Why should I enter Print Competition?
Entering print competitions will change the way you look at photographs. It will improve your everyday shooting, editing and process. It will ruin you…in a good way. We will look at the 12 elements of art and how they are important in a print completion image. We will discuss whether to shoot for competition or use client work. We will judge images and determine if the image is merit worthy or client worthy. There are new changes to Print Competition, Merit Image Review, and those new credentials will be introduced. We will discuss why should you enter and to be the best photographer you can be.
Who is Cindy Dover?
I am a Certified Professional Photographer and hold a Master of Photography, Master Artist, Master of Wedding Photography and Photographic Craftsman’s degree. I have been a member of Professional Photographers if America for 13 years and an ASP member for 5 years. I have volunteered at ImagingUSA for 6 years and 3 years on the print competition team for PPN (Kentucky). I volunteered in the CPP program as a CPP judge and liaison. I am currently a Juror in Training to become an IPC judge and enjoy judging state print competitions.
I have been featured in and on the cover of regional magazines, The Photographer, Cincy Magazine, Bridal Bliss, Receptions and Professional Photographer (PPA). I am a member of two state affiliates, PPN (Kentucky) and TPPA (Texas). I have won numerous awards for my wedding albums, weddings, artist and photographic open. I was honored to be chosen the Kentucky Photographer of the year 2021 and received Best of Show in Texas Print competition.
Print competition has been very important to me to grow my craft and as a photographer. I have entered in state print competitions as well as International Print Competition and Southeast District competitions. Over the years I have been nominated for 5 GIA’s, Bronze, Silver, Platinum and Diamond medals. ASP honored me with the Southeast District medallion in 2022.
I have been a business owner since 2007 and specialize in Wedding, Portrait Photography and Santa Photography. I hold a Masters of Education and taught elementary visual arts, social studies, special needs and 3rd grade for 30 years in the Ohio schools. I now reside in Northern Kentucky on my 111 acres that I call my outdoor studio.
My outdoor studio has a variety of locations to create photographs of couples, seniors and families. My love is my 2 adult children Garrison and Emily, 4 grandchildren Konner, Mickey, Addison and Matthew, 2 dogs Maggy and Oakley, 3 horses Dancer, Montana and Thunder and 11 ducks. The support and love of my husband, Dutch, my light man, handyman, and Santa, has been the key to my happiness and a successful business.
