The Relentless Pursuit of Business
“Extraordinary performance is possible only through extraordinary preparation.”
- Darren Hardy
Been there done that...... Like you Todd has been going to the photography school of hard Knocks. He’s just been doing it for 40 years. He is starting to figure it out and graduate soon.
Like many of you, Todd started his photography career taking pics of friends and family. Film did not make it easy though, as it would sometimes take a week for proofs to come back from the lab, just to find out you made a mistake or something else was wrong and it cost around $1.25 per frame even if it was a bad exposure.
Todd also did a lot of wedding photography. Wedding photography is the trench warfare of the photo world, and with 2500+ weddings under his belt, Todd has wedding PTSD. It did however teach him how to be fast and efficient with groups, posing etc...
When Todd earned his Master’s Degree, the average cost to enter print competition was around $500 (labs would charge around $100 per print to produce each print).
Running a business for the last 40 years has taught Todd how to pivot. Running a business that 100% supports a family is not easy nor fun. Todd has learned that in this crowded profession it takes more than talent and passion to make it.
