5pm to 11:30pm

We'll meet at the smaller Walmart parking lot in
Spanish Fork  at 4:45pm to carpool or caravan.

This is a free class for IPPA members, $25 for non-members.
The class is limited to 15 registrants, so sign up fast!

Join us for a night with Kari Nay of Kari J Nay Photography as she steps us through how to photograph the Milky Way near the Buckhorn Wash in Emery County, UT in August 2024!  This is new moon time so the sky will be dark enough to show the finer details of our home galaxy!


ADVISEMENTS

Please include your cell number with registration so that we can keep you up to date on whether the class is a go or not.  It may be the day or afternoon of when a notification will be sent out.
There are no restrooms at this location.  Restrooms are close by, 15-30 mins out.
Attendees will need to bring their own water and snacks.

5:00pm Leave for Buckhorn Wash area
7:00pm Arrive
7:30pm Golden Hour
8:06pm Sunset and restroom break
8:34pm Nautical Dusk - Milky Way core is up.
9:00pm Class starts again 
9:07pm Astronomical Dusk
9:42pm Night - best time to photograph Milky Way 

11:30pm

 Class ends


GEAR RECOMMENDATIONS

Sturdy tripod
Camera body with manual controls
Wide angle lens with a fast aperture (f2.8 or faster is best)
Headlamp with red and white light

Kari is the owner of Kari J Nay Photography, covering the Utah Valley area.  While she primarily photographs portraits, she also has an passion for the night sky and loves capturing the beauty found in the heavens.
