Our approach to success in Art & Business

Steve Krongard and Jodi Buren had separate studios in New York City for twenty years. Jodi’s work was primarily portraits for magazines and corporations. Steve did a range of work, both in the studio and on location for Advertising, Annual Reports and magazines. In the early 2000’s, they partnered to form what became an extremely successful event photography business.


In this lecture, they will spell out their roadmap for success by both showing the evolution of their work and describing in detail how they built their business’ and the changes they went through over the years to thrive, both individually and then together as a team. They will also go into detail about their business practices.

This lecture is aimed at those who have a passion for photography as well as those full time working photographers who want to up their game.


About Jodi Buren


Jodi Buren is a portrait photographer now based in Park City, Utah after 40 years of freelance photography in New York City. She photographs people from all walks of life for her personal work, as well as international clients. Her subjects have ranged from celebrities, athletes, business tycoons and Presidents to break dancers, male strippers and Sandhill Cranes. Her editorial clients have included the New York Times Magazine, LIFE, Sports Illustrated and Newsweek. Her corporate clients include IBM, A T & T and American Express to name a select few.

Ms. Buren attended the University of Pennsylvania and received a BA in photojournalism from The Newhouse School at Syracuse University. She assisted Magnum photographer Eve Arnold as well as famed colorist Jay Maisel. Those experiences led her to a style that reflects beauty, humor and gesture. Her images are marked by an incisive sensitivity, coupled with a technical virtuosity. Her specialty is her warmth, and her ability to reveal the beauty in all her subjects.


Jodi’s book, “Superwomen: 100 Athletes - 100 Sports” which she wrote and photographed was published by Bulfinch Press. An exhibit of the photographs, sponsored by Rolex opened at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry, and toured numerous venues throughout America. In the early 2000’s, Jodi and her husband Steve Krongard partnered to form an event photography business, ultimately photographing more than 1000 events. They continue to work together on select projects, and their show “Beauty and the Beaks”, a love letter to the Swaner Preserve was the culmination of 3 years work and seen by thousands of visitors. Jodi continues to pursue personal work and pro bono work, but no longer accepts commercial assignments.

Jodi lives in Park City, Utah with her dog Panda, and her husband, Steve Krongard.
